Eight years old and above aged cars should undergo fitness test. Failing the test, owners should not drive the car on road and if caught it may attract heavy fine to the car owners. "Green Tax" Car Fitness Certificate comes with a validity of 5 years. This tax will be levied if the car passes the test and this is will attract 10% to 25% of the current car value. The reason to implement this scrappage policy is to reduce pollution and remove old cars from the road. Cars that are over 15 years old would required to undergo emission test which is mandatory. This policy was brought in by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Now this policy has been approved by Nitin Gadkari and it will be unveiled soon. Government provides financial or tax-based benefits to consumers on the purchase of new vehicles. Newly purchased vehicles will be exempted for the payment of fees for a registration certificate and assignment of the new registration mark, only upon scrapping the old v
